From what I've read, the lag in things like jumping is because of this: People have different abilities. If the game needed you to jump 5 feet into the air, obviously people at home can't do this. Instead, it treats the player's jump the same as if they'd pressed the "jump button". Of course, it means that the person playing at home would be on the ground long before the onscreen character is. To paraphrase a quote from Game Informer, "Actual 1:1 actions would be frustrating."
