I just did this for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

I took my PS3 to a repair shop for the Blu-ray drive and the guys there suggested that i replace the thermal paste as soon as i could to avoid the LYOD problem.

I did it, bought Arctic Silver, a compressed air can and some thermal paste remover, cost about £10 in total from Amazon.co.uk then spent an evening cleaning it out and replacing the paste.

I'm no computer expert, but it wasn't too hard, i followed some videos posted by some english guy on youtube which were a real help. hardest bit was remembering which screws when in which holes when putting it back together!

Seemed to work alright, but i don't think it's running much quieter, if at all.
