The key to all halo games and why their vehicle sections are great is that the vehicle scenes never feel like they are tacked on. If they can make space combat feel like its part of gamplay and have intuitive controls like with other vehilcles, I'm all for it...
Very few games are able to do this. For example, Gears of War 1 and 2 have those dreadful driving with flashlightand flying sequences which completely change the games core controls, change the perspective and feel like they were put in as bonus games just to provide "variety".
Those I really cant stand...
