| Akvod said: Hmm, maybe the gender role question should be left to professional sociologist, rather than us. But would you be against single parents, being that they are "mono"? I think you're misinterpreting things here. The people celebrating aren't celebrating as if gay parents can now just adopt with no questions asked. The thing was that there was not even a possibility they could adopt, fit or not. I agree that gay parents should be held to the same standards as hetrosexual parents who would like to adopt, if they are suited or not. I think all agree here. The only barrier now, is that you believe that being gay itself makes you inadequate to be a parent. |
Maybe this entire discussion shoulde be left to other forums, because people here have limited knowledge, and have their own personal biases and whatnot. I am interested in seeing how things pan out, with the definition of what is marriage to be changed legally, but not considered as the right definition by most people. And in this culture clash, it will be interesting to see what develops.
As for myself, I consider that people don't know how to be married couples, and live like good married couples, and the high divorce rate a major reason why we have problems in society we do now. Being a single parent is something I do consider less than ideal for children. Being a parent is hard enough, even with a partner.
Again, what does what I, or anyone else here, have to think about this really matter?
