Keep reading.  This also supports their source...

We've moved on from this topic, but for future reference, I realise that we have a pretty clear way of showing non-believers the RSX clock frequency without violating any NDAs, because here's how the Linux driver reports the RSX:

$ dmesg|grep rsx
ps3rsx: PS3 RSX access module, 1.0.0
ps3rsx: reserved XDR memory is @c000000000d00000, len 18874368
ps3rsx: 254MB of DDR video ram at 0x700190000000 mapped at d000080080780000 handle 5a5a5a5b
ps3rsx: context 0x55555554 dma=440000381000 driver=480000684000 reports=4c0000d90000 reports_size=10000
ps3rsx: ctrl=d00008008010c000 drv=d0000800905c0000 reports=d0000800804e0000
ps3rsx: version 2.11 RSX rev17 0MB RAM channel 1 core 500MHz mem 650MHz
ps3rsx: remapped XDR apperture at c000000000d00000 size 18432kB to RSX

And with that (and still nothing refuting the GW story in any way,shape or form either) I'm done.  For reals this time.

yea your done alright because you do know that the driver they are using is generic. and second:

"The Cell processor will also be powerful enough to drive a new class of gameplay physics impossible to run on older console hardware. The PS3 will be able to simulate cloth and fluid, as well as large-scale rigid-body interactions with hundreds and thousands of objects colliding on screen. Today's PCs in comparison will need a physics add-on card or find a way to tap the GPU for physics processing to run PS3-level physics effects."

'PlayStation 3 RSX "Reality Synthesizer" graphics-processing unit, a massive 550MHz, 300-million-transistor graphics chip based on advanced GeForce graphics technology. According to a written statement from Nvidia, the RSX transistor count is "more than the total number of transistors in both the central-processing units and the graphics-processing units of the three leading current-generation systems, combined." During the PlayStation 3 E3 2005 presentation, Nvidia CEO and founder Jen-Hsun Huang explained that "the RSX has twice the performance of the GeForce 6800 Ultra, the highest performance GPU in the world today. Each of these GPUs retails for $500. There will be two of them, equivalent horsepower, in the RSX."' http://www.gamespot.com/features/6125429/p-2.html

I believe that the PS3 will have enough graphical power to keep Crysis running. If PC's need an add on card to be equal to the PS3 or even have more graphical power than the GeForce 6800, I don't see why not. Of course, the true power won't be fully utilized until 2 maybe 3 years after the PS3's launch. We'll shall soon see.

because he says it is clocked @ 550 Mhz.
