Not only that, but Sony stated it, Gamestop (I think) stated it, but I guess people do not wan't to believe on this. Oh well, these new NPD numbers proves it.

 

And Sony did not screwed up, they did all this on because they wanted: cleaned stock, introduced a profitable (for them) PS3 and unleashed it when MS did their move. People at Sony are very clever. 

The nearly double monthly totals from May to June did show an obvious rise in sales, but keep in mind that May was 4 weeks while June was 5. So, it really isn't as big as a rise in weekly sales as you both think.
