I opened and cleaned up my PS3 a few months ago. My point was: "OK, your PS3 is no warranty covered anymore. Now, it's your responsibility to maintain it". However, I didn't do the thermal paste thing, though I know it's quite important. I'll do it when I come back from summer holidays ^^.
You should do so and be proud of your videogame console. I mean, BC is priceless guys :_)
