In order to produce most of the alternative energy sources, high amounts of oil were used in the production process. No other alternative energy source is as cheap as oil. Farming land would be taken up to produce bio-diesels to be substituted in the place of oil in developing nations. In order to efficiently mass produce consumer goods in factories large amounts of oil is required.
