I think all of you who say anything but 'Mario' was the first thing to pop in your head is just being fanboyish. Seriously. Mario games are by far the biggest (and best) platforming games to have ever been created. Spanning over 20 years and is *most* people's first game let alone platforming game. I can't fathom anyone who would think *initially* of anything but Mario when platforming game is first mentioned unless they don't know what the term means. Then to define it, assuredly the person would use Mario. lol.
I'm not trying to sound Nintendo fanboyish, just being realistic on the size and scope of Mario games in our world, even outside of gaming.
