I love turn-based (if done right) and kind of agree on its being more strategy (and tactics, too) than real time buttons mashing.
For those who think that action-based is more exciting, there is option for adding such kind of flavour in turn-based, too. Just add timer, playing turn-based blitz can be much more than excitiing. It's basically feels very much like a Tetris, and from recent games I could recall Reset Generation, my favorite portable game. It's done exactly in this way (short timers) and it feels very arcadish, though deeply inside it's strategy (or tactics, at least).
