It's not because MS needs the 360 to reign supreme here in the United States, and if they lost the edge here, they would be out of the race and people would start jumping ship from the States. They cannot afford that, hence the early release of this new system redesign (slim). MS needs to not go back to losing after the sales even out after the old models are gone, and first adopters have their hardware.
It's much more important here in the States, in EU, it's a lost cause and you have to admit this.
