| Nintari said: The difference between games we get on PSN,XBLA and the games we got on the NES is todays games are made for preschoolers. Seriously, the challenge is completely gone. Back in the old days a game like Contra (without the Konami code) would take months of blood sweat and tears to beat. Now games like Shadow Complex make a mockery out of the industry as far as challenge goes. |
not just the difficulty but also the complexity of games today have dropped quite a bit. i love the graphics, cinematics and large open worlds newer games have afforded us but the complexity of the gameplay has not kept up. take inindo for instance an rpg on the snes, not only did it have gameplay like youd find in a turn based rpg nowadays but it also had way more party members you could find in the various towns that you had to get to know before theyd join you (or fight you if they didnt like you too much) it also had little strategy army games in it if you led ones city army against another. or goldeneye for n64 where you had various objectives on missions instead of just shooting your way from point A to point B like many fps
