Citizens of the United States aren't very homogeneous despite belonging to the same nation. Even then, that seems partially an individual trait although of course incited by cultural distinctiveness. Basically the answer to your question is that it depends on the individual, and if it were to be the case that it was culturally imposed, there are many different cultural realities in the United States as it has become a nation based off of geopolitical control exclusively with very little ethnic-basis, unlike some "old world" nations. To be honest even since colonial times this has been the case.
