I personally prefer turn based rpgs. Actually, I think I enjoy SRPG the most. But in the end, what is really important is not wheter the rpg is turn-based or not, but if it is fun to play and if it, still after many hours of gameplay, allow you to keep growing and manages to still be challenging.
I loved Demon's Souls, Final Fantasy VII, Tales of Symphonia (my first entry on the series), Persona 4, Fire Emblem RD and Fallout 3, just to call some names of rpgs that had pretty different battle systems, but all were compelling for some reason.
