Yeah, I kinda missed the old days. I mean it was hard to get a high level monster out on the field and it was a lot harder to get rid of said monster off the field. I mean, now adays you'd be lucky to keep one monster on the field for more than a turn. |
Yeah, nowadays only if you have an abusive monster card like Vampire Lord, is the only way to truly control the field for the duration of the match. That's why Zombie, Roids, D.D and Fairy (with Sanctuary in the Sky) are some of the most feared decks out there. And don't get me started on Psychic Tuner Synchro spamming. I've seen duels where in the second turn, a guy pulls out a 10 star through synchro combos >_>
My current deck is also proficient at getting high levels on the second turn too, but mostly 8 star (Horus of the Black Flame Lv. 8) or a 9 star (Water Dragon) if i'm lucky with the starting draw, or with Reload. Traps are becoming too abusive and normal monsters are pretty useless now, while some effect monsters are way to overpowered, especially indestructible by battle fairies >_<

I had a Thousand-Eyes Restrict (non-Holo) and a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon (Holo), which were also exceedingly rare at that time too.
