If support for Kinect starts having problems due to the whole sitting down, and "no controller" thing, i can see some problems witht the tech. Developers get a bigger scene with Wii/PS3 games for their motions controllers, than from a Kinect game. And if the problems are there, i'd feel like i'd rather focus on other platforms. And MS studios and first party is not known for releasing games on a regular basis, which could make the content for Kinect very sparse.

Just look at the Wii.  Outside of Nintendo's titles, the content has been pretty sparse for quite awhile, and that's for the fastest selling console of all time!

The idea that Kinect might have little software support is not that surprising given Microsoft's reliance on third parties, a group not known for taking risks and thinking outside of the box.

If they had emulated the Wii's control scheme, they could've at least relied on Wii ports ala Move while possibly convincing more devs to jump in on motion controls, but with the way things currently stand, Microsoft will be hard pressed to garner any significant third party support unless the device somehow becomes an amazing success.  This puts Microsoft in a bit of a catch-22, thanks to their somewhat weak first party offerings.  They can't gain support without being successful, but, given their situation, they'll be hard pressed to be successful with little support.

But once again, even incredible success doesn't guarantee substantial support if developers are afraid to stray from the norm and work with new control schemes.

I think we're saying the same thing.. you just said it better.

My point was that if the general consensus about Kinect become focused on the problems (sitting down, no controller & better business, currently, to go with wii-like contollers which have a bigger audience), i dont see MS first party picking up the slack. Which is basicly what you said, just in other words.
