I have a 2nd generation iPod and used it everyday until the battery died after a year in 2006. Apple wanted $100 to replace my iPod battery and it has been sitting in my closet in a box with a bunch of other unused electronic devices.
Lovely device an iPod is, but for someone who owns 100 CDs, the uploading of the CDs onto iTunes took close to 24 hours worth of my labor. I have since passed on getting a new iPod because of the physical labor it would entail on my part.
