The online features of MW2 while P2P in-game do require servers for other parts.  If some people really do pay for LIVE for CoD why shouldn't they recieve something to offset the server costs?

ok so there are servers somewhere that Activision themselves have to maintain?  Then I can see why they should get some of the money from XBL, but it would be hard to figure out how much.

This only works in the case where they go to Microsoft before entering into an agreement about being hosted on XBL.

If they take it on themselves to incurr more expenses, that doesn't entitle them to get anything from Microsoft's revenue.
