Apparently his problem is that iTunes and Amazon payouts are entirely based on how many units you sell, rather than just backing up a dumptruck of money to Prince's house and giving him 25 cents an album afterward (or whatever shitty cut musicians are getting from the record labels these days).

Sounds like Prince doesn't expect his music to sell on its own merits. He's so dubious of this album's ability to succeed, he's keeping his music out of the largest music retailer in the US.
