I don't attack Bioware, I attack a single aspect of their games, that i've played, which is: There's a beginning, then, there's a part were you can choose four/three different planets/town districts to go to, and the order doesn't matter, and then - TWIST! and then you go to the final dungeon/two. However, I do realize that this is just how it is with WRPGs, when you need to make a lot of quality optional side-content, it takes away from the quality of the main storyline. (Don't get me wrong though, I still think that SE sucks :P ) |
i do agree with you on that or mainly on the whole western developers and their whole CHOICES/CONSEQUENCES bullshit they toss out.
that is a load of crap. its just as you say, you can choose which of the roughly 4 areas to go in any order. Those areas have two endings, one good one bad, maybe a middle groundish one as well, but regardless of decisions you finish task there and done. both decisions accomplish same goal. now go to next totally independent place that what you did before doesn't affect this area AT ALL, and same thing, fake choices to get to the end.
Then finally you get to last area and depending on ONE decision at that point, doesn' tmatter at all wha tyou did the whole game it all leads to thsi one decision for the endings. and usually during the "Twist" this decision is made of save the bad guy, or kill him.
I'm not saying jrpg's or any other games stories are amazing or great, but at least they dont' advertise falsely. people make fun of fable's boasting, yet i find all western rpg's to be like that. all empty promises, hiden behind FAKE decisions.
