Alpha Protocol is one and done.

In a recent interview with CVGSEGA West president Mike Hayes confirmed the company isn't looking to do another game in the series due to the low sales of the first title.

"Let's speak very commercially; the game hasn't sold what we've expected, therefore we won't be doing a sequel," he said.

"The concept was brilliant, though," Hayes added. "You know this whole thing with Metacritic where you have to be in the high 70s to mid-80s minimum [to have any success] - well, with RPGs you have got to be in the late 80s."

California-based Obsidian Entertainment juggled development of Alpha Protocol alongside Fallout: New Vegas over the past year. The title suffered numerous delays before eventually being released last month.

Well whose fault is it that the game was such a critical failure? The concept was brilliant but the product felt rushed and unfinished. So much wasted potential.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
