Well, shit, maybe we should let everyone use their hands in soccer while we're at it! Ghana didn't lose a chance, Ghana was taken its right to be in the semifinal by a player that decided to say "screw the ethics of soccer, let's use the forbidden part of the body for the better of my own personal gain." If that had happened to Brazil, Germany, Argentina, or other team I would be just as pissed. Funny how you think a penalty kick, WHICH can be missed as it was shown in the game, is a perfect substitution for what was to be a legit goal. But hey! No big deal! Ethics in soccer doesn't matter, right?!?! Sportmanship in soccer is way dead. Oh, and to Solid, here's FIFA's ruling stating that they decided the fate of Suarez. Oh man, oh man! http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/fifaworldcup/uruguay/story/2010/07/03/sp-suarezfifa.html?ref=rss P.S. My favorite quote on the article
"But the way in which I was sent off — truth is, it was worth it." |
Fact: Suarez won the game for Uruguay. Again, you're just complaining because it was Ghana and not New Zealand. He was punished and will be punished more later, but Ghana lost the game because they didn't have emotional control when penalty kicking. Is it right (etically talking) to avoid a goal by putting your hand on the ball? Yes, but there are no rules that it should be considered a goal instead of a penalty.
Uruguay deserved to win the game after Ghana has lost their chance in extra time, and they did. Football is like this: not always the team which had more chances win. Stop complaining and accept the fact Ghana lost because of their own incompetence.
