White Knight Chronicles Coming to PSP Level-5's RPG goes portable. UK, June 30, 2010

Level-5's White Knight Chronicles is coming to Sony's handheld device if a recent Famitsu listing is to be believed.

The latest issue of the Japanese gaming magazine reveals White Knight Chronicles – New Project under its PSP section and... Well, that's your lot as far as this reveal goes, as there are no other details at present.

The announcement coincides with the Japanese release of White Knight Chronicles 2 on PS3, the sequel to a game that left us more than a little underwhelmed. Here's hoping the sequel – and the PSP version – go on to bigger and brighter things.

Thanks for the spot Siliconera

If true I am very excited!

EDIT:  Adding this, Level-5 might not be developing it.

Level-5 May Not be Developing White Knight Chronicles PSP

New title promises a new start for the series following White Knight 2.

June 30, 2010

Word broke earlier today about a PSP entry in the White Knight Chronicles series. We now have a few more details now that we have the issue of Famitsu where the info first emerged.

Famitsu's report on the game, which it lists as Shirokishi Monogatari: New Project (the stuff before the colon is the Japanese name for White Knight) is just a one page teaser to go along with a summary feature about White Knight Chronicles 2, which hits the Japanese PS3 on the 8th.

The teaser consists of a few bits of artwork, including character art listed as male and female avatars. Text on the page confirms that the story of Leonard and the 10,000 year Dogma War will end with White Knight 2 and "a completely new White Knight Chronicles" will start on PSP.

It looks like Level-5, developer of the PS3 White Knight games (also known for the Layton series), won't be leading the series on that new start. Famitsu lists Sony Computer Entertainment Japan as "producer" of the new game, with Level-5 credited only for the original idea of the White Knight series. This seems to suggest that the new game will have a yet undisclosed mystery developer.

We'll keep you posted should we hear any new details. Sony's focus is presumably on White Knight 2 at present, so don't expect those details until September's Tokyo Game Show.
