I HIGHLY recommend Code Geass, those are only 50 episodes (25 each season), and all are great, no fillers, great characters, excellent Story.
Death Note for me its a hit or miss, I don't like it, but some of my friends love it.
Full Metal Alchemist its also good and not so long.
There are others, but they are usually extremely long, so I don't recommend them,as they take forever to see (Naruto, Gintama, Bleach, One Piece, etc.) and they are usually slowed to a drag, and filled with a lot of chapters to slow the advance of the story.
