I said I was able to hold it comfortably in numerous positions, but I also said you have to center your view. You get about 10 degrees of tilt in any direction before there's distortion. When I said I was able to hold it comfortably in numerous positions I meant I could view it from above, in front of me, above me, and easily center my eyes on it. I also tried disabling the 3D and holding it in a comfortable way, then enabling it and discovered I had already centered it without trying. When you're holding a handheld system you center it on your own. It's automatic.
Those reports are exaggerated, but not completely inaccurate. You do get some leeway, but it's certainly not much, which is the reason glasses-free 3D doesn't work on TVs (as I pointed out earlier). I'm not trying to mislead anyone. Glasses free has this as its disadvantage, but you have to actively try to break the 3D. People don't naturally view the things they hold at warped angles. You will automatically center it, unless you try not to. I, and all the other press of course, did try in order to find where the breaking point was in the clarity of the image, but for normal play this is unlikely to be a major issue. If you, for some reason, do wish to play at strange angles at times you can always disable the 3D during those times.
