As Khuutra has posted what I also feel, more eloquently than I could possibly do, I'm satisfied with the conclusions that this thread has shown so far.
I still hold to my original post, Lufia II is and will always be my first thought when it comes to RPG. Because to me, it symbolizes not only what is the best RPG to date, but also the best overall gaming experience I ever had, so that's what's "popular" to me
