WoW has been played by more people than most games can ever aspire to. 11 million was the active subscriptions at the time, not counting those that had been dropped in the previous four years. For the time period from 2004-2010, WoW has destroyed Final Fantasy and every other RPG that isn't Pokemon (and maybe also Pokemon). |
The Final Fantasy series has sold dam near 100 million copies. You think less than 11 million people bought that many?
FF has been a commercial success since the 80s. I don't WoW will be overtaking that any time soon. It's been so massive for such a long period of time I doubt WoW is more popular.
