I really don't know what people were expecting out of this. How could one be disappointed knowing fully well the history of cartoons to live action adaptations? They just don't work. It's like being shocked that somehow the next big video game adaptation to a film is less than stellar, or the next film adaptation to videogame form sucks eggs. Duh...
Learn to form realistic expectations and you'll all be disappointed far less often.
