The British number one booked his place in the semi-finals with a four-sets victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the prize being a date with Rafael Nadal.

And although he knows Federer will not be awaiting in the final for the first time in eight years, Murray is rightly focusing on his next match against the current world number one.

"I don't care whether he's in or out of the tournament," he said of the Swiss six-time champion. "It doesn't affect me unless I win the next round.

"I'm playing the number one player in the world in the next round, so it would be a bit silly for me to look past him."

Thomas Berdych was the man to end Federer's run of final appearances at Wimbledon and having lost to the Czech in the fourth round of the French Open last month, Murray knows he is worth his place in the last four.

"It was surprising, but Berdych is a great player," he added. "If he plays his best tennis, he can beat the best guys.

"He's won against Rafa a few times, he's obviously beaten Roger a couple of times now, and I obviously lost to him at the French Open a few weeks ago. It doesn't look like such a terrible result anymore."
