Get some skills, even if they have nothing at all to do with your career.

Ever want to learn to paint or speak German or design a web page? Now's your chance! Scope out posters at your local community center and you'll probably find all kinds of cheap or free workshops and classes you could take, or you could buy a couple books, or if you're really hard-up for cash (I don't normally advocate this, but I'll cut the unemployed some slack) download some professional design software and start playing around.

Who knows, your hobby might open up career doors in the future. If nothing else, slapping more skills on your resume makes you look like a well-rounded renaissance man who likes to keep busy. Who is the school going to hire, the history teacher with ten years of experience or the history teacher with ten years of experience who's fluent in German and knows how to design web sites?

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
