| sieanr said: You're on a roll today, kid Now to the topic at hand. All of the games in you're list are the big, well known mainstream title. There is nothing wrong with this, but I would argue that a hardcore gamer is a person who plays hardcore games - and those generally aren't in the mainstream. Shmups would be a genera thats almost entirely "hardcore" games. RPGS are another area thats "hardcore", and no, FF doesn't count. I'm talking about Persona, Panzer Dragoon, ect. FPS have plenty of hardcore games as well, but has become mainstream recently. Hardcore titles would be Descent, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Quake and the like. And of course strategy games, Disgaea, Fallout 1, X-com and the like. Oh, and big bonus points for playing any older, dead system titles especially on lesser know consoles such as the TG16, Saturn and Master System. Although honestly, I dont see why you should be concerned with wether or not you're "hardcore". Its just a pointless title that doesn't change anything. |
I doubt most people here know what a Shmup is (prior to the googling of the term they just did to contradict my post) nor the fun of many curtain fire variants like the Touhou series. I would expect some to still be familiar with the larger, more popular names like Gradius, R-Type, and Ikaruga though.
