What I like about PS Plus is that, aside from auto downloads, it's entirely content based. To the people that feel the games, etc. are worth the money, they'll get the service. To everyone who decides there's not much they care about in the package, they'll pass, and they won't be any worse off for it. No major features are being withheld from non-subscribers, thus no one gets left out.
As of this point in time, that is. If they make cross game voice chat PS Plus exclusive, all that goes out the window.
