You never know tho :D I mean it's their first attempt in the handheld market and I would say they did pretty well....and the leader changes all the time...people say how the might have fallen looking at Sony now but they always seem to not think of the possibility of the same thing happening to Ninty in the future...not saying it will 'definately' happen or anything..but just saying anything could happen

This comes up every time, and the reason it's not given much thought is because two things need to happen:

  • Nintendo needs to fuck up.
  • Sony / MS needs to pull off something they've never done before.

I don't see either happening for the next round of handhelds / consoles. There is the gen after, in which Nintendo may need to really change things up to remain leader, but that's a long ways off.

Besides, there's a major difference in how the two became successful. Nintendo pretty much builds its own success single-handedly (first/second parties), while Sony had avalanches of third-party support since its first console.

Sony F up which led to them suffering a huge set back early in this gen...same can happen to Ninty is all I'm saying...look at xbox, they have done such a good job getting into their second gen consoles..

3DS IS the next gen console for the DS as far as I know.....

Again if Sony can start to sell at an affordable price from the start, and gain more and more 3rd party support (their 1st parties are solid) then they will do great...

I personally think that Ninty will need something unique 'again' to get the leader position next gen ...they are more than capable of this however...but I also think Sony and MS are too..so it's anyones game really :D we all gain tho, better the rivalry the better the games
