Im learning to love the artstyle, and im sure ill love it even more than Galaxy after learning a little about its impressionist inspiration. I think the extension of this look in the final game will set it apart from not only any Zelda before it, but any game ever made in history.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impressionism "Characteristics of Impressionist paintings include visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles." - take note of what is bolded! On a sidenote, it seems as though Miamoto's art interests are having a remarkable and beautiful influence on the look of his games. This all started with Mario Galaxy, and its clear perspective play style, taken from MC Eschers work.
MY GOD at the thought of a Daliesque Mario launch title in HD.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
