New Xbox 360 has red dot of death, instead? Not quite

This feature should be applauded and should have been implemented a long time ago.

every console of this gen has had a feature like that form the start (without the screen message, but just straight power down - even my 2002 Athlon had that feature as well as I found out when my CPU fan died and the PC kept shutting down after 10-20minutes until I finally realized what was wrong - saved the CPU), but it seems either the temperature chosen for the shut off was too high or hot spots in the non-sensored areas caused the chips/solder to be damaged permanently 

No... both PS3 and 360 had problems with their fans... people who fix them will tell you exactly what's wrong and I really am to tired to go over it right now, but it has something to to with the fans not kicking in high gear fast enough... or at all in some of the early models
