It was sitting upstairs in my home during the summer and it was ~110 degrees up there while the thing was running. I came back and saw a blinking red light, only to find out that it shut itself down due to overheating. This feature should be applauded and should have been implemented a long time ago. |
every console of this gen has had a feature like that form the start (without the screen message, but just straight power down - even my 2002 Athlon had that feature as well as I found out when my CPU fan died and the PC kept shutting down after 10-20minutes until I finally realized what was wrong - saved the CPU), but it seems either the temperature chosen for the shut off was too high or hot spots in the non-sensored areas caused the chips/solder to be damaged permanently
