nintendo and sony are going to end up being the loosers in the long run, since nintendo is inching closer to creating a "multimedia" handheld device.. you can't compete with apple on that front, and clearly thats what they are trying to do with DSi and 3DS.

Who says they can't? They certainly couldn't with a defeatist attitude like that.

Nintendo's multimedia is a bit of a defensive move, but they're still trying to offer unique values. The DSi lets you play around with your music and image files, turning them into a bit of a game (so do some 3rd party iPhone apps, but being integrated counts). The 3DS offers 3D photography and mobile video, which no other mobile consumer device has offered before.

Nintendo can't match Apple's online media marketplace or computer synchronization, but they can offer other unique values so that somebody who wants movies, music, and games might buy a 3DS instead of an iPod Touch.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
