What's a Kinect Port? Given older 360 skus don't have one what's the equivalent port?

The Kinect Port is a proprietary port that both connects Kinect to the 360 and powers it (no external power source needed). That means with new 360's you only need one cable to set up Kinect. With older 360's you need to use a USB port and plug in an external power adapter for Kinect.

Great summary of thoughts. That's more what I intended this thread for instead of "LOL pricing fail" being exclaimed over and over again. If that's all you want to say please feel free to say it. But also include some type of reasoning to why you think that. It makes for better discussion and less needless argument that goes nowhere.

I think that Microsoft's initial push for Kinect is purely at the casual market. The general public have spent much more on much less in recent years concerning tech and gadgetry. Things like the iPad and the Wii Fit balance board have had extremely great adoption rates regardless of their high price so $150 Kinect may seem high to those of us trolling forums for a living but to the outside world it may be totally reasonable. The launch time should also be considered. It's releasing around the time when the Holiday season really picks up and people are a lot more wallet happy.

On the negative side... $150 without a game? Either someone has omitted some information somewhere, this isn't final, or Microsoft just wants to shoot themselves in the foot with their existing install base. If their rumoured Kinect bundle prices are somewhat accurate then those who only want a standalone unit are being terribly screwed and MS is delirious to their existing install base's loyalty to the Xbox platform.
