Actually, the only expected standard issued FUD usually comes from Sony.  This is a far cry from their resent press releases.

They've done it towards Nintendo many times in the past.

I remember even Bill Gates did it in an interview where he laughed at the Wii's controller and I believe it was Peter Moore who said, "We look forward to Shigeru Miyamoto working for us someday soon."

They've done this for a long time. It's the type of passive-aggressiveness which I despise. Rather than coming right out and making a statement against Nintendo, they kind of insinuate it without saying anything substantial.

The idea isn't to give Nintendo fans something to argue. The idea is to quietly raise fear, uncertainty and doubt about Nintendo and their products. It's the business equivalent of starting rumors about other students in high school.

I'm not arguing that Sony does it as well, but MS is no stranger to the act.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
