the thing is with Nintendo that they have either or both had a amazingly successful and profitable handheld and console market, therefore if one is not all that successful the other will keep the company's profit in the gargantuan amounts.
In theory, if Nintendo fail at both handheld and home console, then yes they could be 'killed'
