I understand it's not for everyone!

You can always pick up a REAL steering wheel if you have one handy and let Kinect scan that in for you :0P

I was wondering what happened to the whole object "scanning" feature that was bulleted last year with the skateboard simulation.

The skateboarding example they chose in particular was amusing because Tony Hawk came on stage not long after to  hype the amazing motion control skateboard peripheral that now seemed redundant.

But there are a lot of potential uses for it if it works. It seems like there could be some potential hitches like when a scanned object obscures a part of the player or alters the player silhouette, but that was part of the problem solving process when Natal was being developed, which may have been worked out.

It seems like this would be more of a core gamer thing, which was not really covered at the E3 conference, so maybe we'll see more about this in the near future, or maybe it will just end up being dropped in the end.
