Ofcourse this is in relation to beloved nintendo franchises such as mario and not the line of "wii whatever" since people don't feel nostagia while playing those.

What you have to concider is that it is a possibility that the high ratings come from people getting nostalgia trips from playing the games. You can ask youself if it's fair to base a score on that, but one thing is certain in my mind. Some nintendo games. Get free rides.

Perhaps I should have specified before, but I didn't concider it a necessity.

Well, if certain Nintendo games get a free ride then are you going to ignore the various 360/PS3 titles that get free rides too? (i.e. GTA4)

 

To your second point, what did you mean right there? That Nintendo's "core" games are the same as they were ten years ago? Clearly you haven't played the same games we have been because, quite frankly... You're wrong. The games are similar but not, I repeat NOT the same.

 

To your first point, that wasn't an insult. It was a way of articulating his point. Telling someone they've "got to be off their rocker" does not mean it's insulting him.

I don't want to drag this out. Which is why I rarely post in the first place ... But yeah. GTA 4 also got a free ride. It was good.. but it was not that good.

All that prooves is that it can happen to other games than nintendo games. It does not excuse or exclude nintendo games from it.

Perhaps not. But my copy of super mario galaxy is pretty stale. Doesn't feel like it's worthy of it's metascore. We could do this all day. But I doubt we are going to come to a sensible conclusion that we can both agree on.

Naturally they are not the same games, but they aren't the massive improvement they are claimed to be either. In my opinion.
