I don't see this as a surrender move, more like they were powerless to stop Sony and Microsoft from weighing in on their territory. With a lot of the focus on the more lucrative handheld market, launching a new console at the same time would have stretched their resources thin. I too can see Sony and MS having increased sales as a direct result of Move and Kinect, but not so much to consistantly beat the Wii in weekly sales.
