Err yea not only have they made Microsoft's massive wiimote sensor looking device obselete they have added Sony's 3D TV to the bin too :)

just like all the other 3D enabled TV's huh..lol

look i can see your excited but there is a big gap in what the handheld market and the Consumer Electronic's market is directed for..Sony's is not just about 3D gaming its also about 3D home theatre. If anything the 3DS only help's the Market for 3D grow not hinder it.

by Nintendo going 3D do you not see how that just show's that they are agreeing with Sony on 3D..yes they are doing that with a handheld and Sony is not . They are targeted toward different market's sony is going for the Home theatre direction which Nintendo is not. that is a big difference. 3DS is portable an is not meant to be a replacement for home theatre and never will be!

3DS does play big-budget 3D movies, though. Thus Nintendo are showing at least some intent to go after part of the market that Sony (and their 3D tv's) cater to.

Yes there are obviously differences, but you can't deny the fact that with that announcement Nintendo apparently intents to take 3DS beyond the boundaries of their traditional 'games-only' approach, and, infact, onto Sony's 3D turf.

True, 3DS isn't a home theatre, but IF it sees success comparable to that of their past handhelds (and I'm betting it will), then Nintendo's (probably) affordable machines capable of playing 3D movies in the hands of 100 million (plus) consumers *could* be a pretty large inconvenience for Sony...
