The hand appears on the screen before he starts moving his hand. However, if you count that the camera pulling back put his hand on screen whie it was still down at his waist, he is turning to the left, so the initial cursor should be moving left, not right, as it does on the screen.

ok, i was looking at the wrong part of the video, I thought that you guys were talking about the racing part of the demo. 

After looking at it, it is possible, but it just depends upon at what point kinect detects his hand. 

agreed. It's not absolute, but it's very iffy, and perhaps mistakenly reinforced by all the fake footage last night. Still, he's turning one way and the hand goes the other way...it's too close to call.. Maybe if the pictures were closer together and a different angle or something...
