Most people didn't even play the game? You can't be serious... After the first week, there 8 million players tried online (VGC has PS360 sales at ~8.2mil, PC sales unknown). As of March 2010, 25 million unique players played the game (most from X360, which require paid accounts). Where do you think all this hype comes from? The game media, the reviewers? None of this is actually important. They tried to hype the hell out of GTA IV, and it didn't work. As soon as the game got into people's hands, its legs were cut off. I'll say it again, customers are not as mindless as you think they are.
As for Nintendo's low expectations? That's what my last link was for, I'll quote it for you:
On December 12, 2006, sales data analysis firm Chart-Track and Nintendo confirmed with several press outlets in the United Kingdom that the Wii had become the fastest selling video game console in the region's recorded history, selling 105,000 consoles in its opening weekend
Nintendo announced on the following day that the Wii had sold 325,000 units across Europe in its first two days of sale, making it the fastest selling console across the entire European continent. They were producing as many Wii's as they could, but couldn't keep up with demand. Seeing how the console is still the fastest selling in history (from launch), that isn't surprising. |
i meant most didn't play the campaign they just wanted to be in the part of the multiplayer action where everybody was.
GTA is not for all casual gamers but only for hardcore fans and 15-30 casuals
i read the links and most of all follow the gaming sales that time so don't really need those links.
IS IT THE FASTED SELLING CONSOLE WORLDWIDE ALSO PS2 WAS NOT IN STOCK AFTER THE FIRST 3 WEEKS
