Wish there was a way I could play with the Kinect and get a feel for it.

Or maybe it might feel less laggy, as your arms are still moving when your avatar is already replicating your swing. In the case of Zelda:TP, for example, you often have to "finish" a gesture before it's triggered, not the case in so-called "1:1" mapping...

As you said, it's something that should really be tried firsthand.
