gaming "journalists" took Cirque Du Soleil show as an MSs E3 conference, that's what happened.

Microsoft themselves called the event "The World Premiere of Project Natal for Xbox 360 experience". None of the "journalists" took it as their E3 conference, but they did take it to be MS's unveiling of Kinect, which is precisely what it was.
