Wii explodd in popularity but only because the console with most popularity and brnad name was expensive.if PS3 was $299 then no way Wii was going to be a success with Playstation brand being so strong that time

and you say it went to 50% in 3 years,it can centainly drop 10% in 2 years if they go without thinking about the competition

lol.... PS2 to PS3 and GC to Wii was because of the expensive PS3 again.PS4 won't be that expensive now that blu-ray is cheap

motion plus is just get going-MOtion plus sin't really doing anything,it adds precise motion controls but people din't really care about it as most are casuals and also no wonder they bought Wii before Motion plus cause they didn't care about it.

If PS3 was $299, it wouldn't be the same console (far less features, weaker hardware). Also, it's impossible to say how that would have affected the Wii. Do you really think the Wii Sports / Wii Fit explosion has much overlap with the people interested in buying PS3's?

It cannot drop to 40% in 2 years. Seriously, just do the math - the Wii would basically need to plummet under PSP numbers, right now. The PS3 consistently outselling the Wii worldwide alone is a highly unlikely scenario.

PS4 may not be expensive, but it won't be as desired, either. Don't forget that the PS3 is the third place console right now (starting next gen as close second at best). It's Sony that needs to make some magic going, not Nintendo, the current market leader.

Your last claim about people not caring about motion plus makes no sense to me. The same claim can be made for anything new Sony / Microsoft tries to come up with.

Seriously, this whole idea of all the past Playstation buyers going to go out and returning to Sony  (PS2 buyers buying PS3, PS4s or whatever) needs to end. If Sony is to return to the top, they're going to have to work their way back up there.
