Demons is acually a WRPG developed by a japanese comapny. It has waaaaay more in common with WRPGs than JRPG's. Older scrawls isnt that great

And I can't think of a single WRPG that plays anything like it.  It's really it's own unique style of game, and the only way you could put it into either came would be by using the "JRPGs = RPGs from Japan, WRPGs = RPGs from the West" logic.  Aside from that, I'd lump into the wider, all encompassing action/adventure genre that covers misfits like Demon's Souls.

Bioware made SONIC and The Dark Brotherhood....that alone shows they know nothing about JRPG's.
